Culinary Adventure Homeschool Club

Welcome to the Culinary Adventure Homeschool Club!

This class series, specifically designed for homeschoolers, will take your junior chef on a culinary adventure in a professional kitchen. Expect hands-on experience, delicious dishes, and valuable skill-building.

Beyond cooking, we'll focus on kitchen knowledge, techniques, terminology, and cleanliness habits. From measuring ingredients to knife skills, we cover everything.

Chef Ashley, a homeschooling mom of 3, loves sharing her passion for cooking. She provides a balance of patience, encouragement, and necessary structure for kitchen safety.

Our classes go beyond cooking - we explore cultural and historical aspects of cuisines, ingredient sourcing, sustainability, and the science of flavor. We view cooking as an art, combining creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Each class offers a unique culinary exploration, confidence building, and appreciation for the culinary arts.

Age and Ability Requirements:

These classes cater to children aged 7-16 years with no prior cooking knowledge required. Reading ability is not essential as Chef Ashley provides guided assistance throughout.

This drop-off class gives parents some free time, but those who wish to observe are welcome. For optimal learning, only enrolled children should stay for the class duration.

After-Class Assignments:

The adventure doesn't end in the kitchen! After each class, your young chef will receive a thoughtfully crafted assignment to continue their learning journey. These assignments, available in two levels - level one and level two, provide opportunities for exploration and growth, using cooking as their inspiration.

Level one assignments are designed for students who may be at a beginner or elementary level in math, reading, or other subjects. These assignments provide a more basic introduction to the topic and focus on building foundational skills. They are less complex and require simpler tasks such as creating visual posters, collages, or simple comparisons. The level-one assignments aim to boost confidence, encourage participation, and ensure that students do not feel overwhelmed. They provide an opportunity for students to learn and engage with the subject matter at a comfortable pace.

Level two assignments are designed for students who have a more advanced understanding of math, reading, or other subjects. These assignments offer a greater level of challenge and complexity, encouraging students to delve deeper into the topic. They often involve research, critical thinking, and more in-depth projects such as writing reports, essays, or developing their own unique ideas. The level two assignments aim to stretch students' abilities, foster independent thinking, and push them to explore the subject matter in greater detail. These assignments provide an opportunity for students to showcase their advanced skills and knowledge.

By offering both options, parents can support their children's individual learning needs and provide opportunities for growth and development at their own pace. It's important to encourage children to try the higher-level assignments, as they may surprise themselves with what they can achieve. However, it's equally important to respect students' comfort zones and allow them to choose the appropriate level that challenges them without causing discouragement.

However, the primary focus is on learning valuable cooking skills, and through this process, they often find themselves more open to trying new things.

Interestingly, this exposure often leads them to discover new flavors they enjoy, ones they may not have been inclined to try otherwise. So, while taste is personal, the skills acquired and the culinary exploration involved can significantly enrich their overall experience.

Food Allergies and Dietary Restrictions:

Please communicate any dietary restrictions to Chef Ashley before signing up for our culinary classes. This helps us accommodate your child's needs and offer the best culinary education experience. We prioritize your child's health and safety, and we make every effort to cater to their unique dietary needs whenever possible. Be area we are in a shared kitchen space, so cross-contamination can never be completely ruled out.
