Unlocking Your Culinary Potential with Back 2 Basics Cooking

Welcome to Back 2 Basics Cooking, your friendly neighborhood culinary school in Columbia, Missouri. I'm Chef Ashley, and I believe that cooking should be simple, fun, and delicious. There's no need for fancy jargon or intimidating techniques here - just tasty home cooking that gets you excited to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on in the kitchen.

Starting on April 2, 2024, I'll be hosting "Cooks in the Making-Part 2", a 6-week cooking class series. Every Tuesday from 6-8 PM, we'll gather together to learn, create, and celebrate the joy of making food from scratch. And don't worry if you've never so much as boiled an egg before - these classes are designed with beginners in mind! 

Here's what we'll be cooking up together:

Class Seven: Hearty Comfort Soup Our journey begins with the comforting warmth of soup. We'll create a robust beef and veggie soup, perfect for those chilly evenings, and a creamy Thai pumpkin soup that's a delight for all senses.

Class Eight: Rise N Shine Breakfast Discover the art of breakfast with me as we master the one-handed egg crack and create fluffy omelettes or hearty scramble bowls. Plus, I'll share the secret to homemade waffles that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Class Nine: Bread Baking Basics There's nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread wafting through your home. Together, we'll bake a quick bread and a delicious banana bread that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

Class Ten: Side Dish Success Side dishes can truly elevate any meal. Let's prepare a variety of them together: potato salad, kale chips, cucumber-tomato salad, and roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon.

Class Eleven: Sweet Tooth Satisfaction Indulge in sweetness as we whip up easy-to-make desserts perfect for everyday cooking. We'll be making apple pie cookies, fruity pinwheels, and a unique s'mores cheese ball.

Class Twelve: Money-Saving Meal Prep Learn how to stretch your dollar without compromising flavor or nutrition. We'll focus on meal prepping effectively for salads and Thai curries, preparing a Honey Mustard Chicken Salad and Thai Meatballs with Rice - both excellent choices for meal prep and sure to become your new favorites.


We'll cover everything in a relaxed and supportive environment. It's not just about recipes; it's about unlocking your culinary potential and building confidence in the kitchen. And at $400 per person for the whole course, it's an awesome value too. Plus, if you sign up by February 29, 2024, you'll get an Early Bird Discount of $50 off to build those culinary skills! We've reserved May 14, 2024, for rescheduling classes if necessary.
